Advanced Technology Center

The Institute of Forensic Science is committed to providing cutting-edge technology to the students of the University of New Haven, law enforcement in the region and partners from around the world. The state-of-the-art equipment in the Advanced Technology Center includes 3D laser scanning, instruments for the analysis of documents and other materials with alternate light combinations, ground penetrating radar, and other computerized crime scene equipment. The Technology Center also has purchased portable versions of Raman, FTIR, 3-D documentation, and x-ray that can be brought to the scene and used to identify unknown substances, assist scene personnel with safety and collection issues, and classify biological materials before laboratory analysis. In addition, the Institute has acquired a footwear database and other instrumentation to search and compare fingerprints, palm prints, cartridge cases or bullets that are on file.

Our Ties to the University of New Haven

Dr. Lee has been a member of the faculty at the University of New Haven since 1975 and helped establish one of the foremost academic forensic programs in the world. The University and its students are world-renowned in this field. You can visit to find out more about undergraduate and graduate study in the University of New Haven’s Henry C. The Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science is housed in a state-of-the-art building on the University of New Haven campus. While we work hand-in-hand toward a common goal, it is important to note the Lee Institute is a separate entity that works closely with the University.

Through training, consultation, research and a unique public learning center, the Institute’s goal is to make the criminal justice system more effective. Toward that goal, we provide unique and effective training programs and cutting edge resources to professionals in the law enforcement fields.
