The Forensic Science Learning Center

During the past two years more than 2000 visitors have experienced forensic science through the activities in the Learning Center. Within the Learning Center there are several touch screen kiosks that allow the visitor to study various famous cases, to learn more about a particular area of forensic science and to use hands-on activity stations. Students and visitors can conduct in-depth research into cases and techniques or view segments of dramatized crime scene investigations in the small theater.

The virtual crime scene and virtual laboratory rooms provide a near three-dimensional perspective of crime scene and lab analysis that cannot be gained from merely looking at pictures in a book. Projections of actual scenes put the viewer in the position of the crime scene investigator, who can then observe, measure and evaluate patterns or other evidence. These areas can also serve as traditional crime scene rooms when additional space is required for hands-on examination areas.
