Forensic Cybercrimes Investigations

The FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) reports approximately 860,000 cybercrimes annually in the United States, costing victims between $12 billion and $16 billion annually. Providing investigators with quality Cybercrime Investigations training is key to tracking down these predators and holding them accountable.
This Forensic Cyber Investigations training will provide investigators with the necessary skills and tools to successfully investigate cybercrimes, understand digital evidence and the 4th Amendment, be able to identify digital evidence, various storage devices, metadata, forensic imaging, hashing and verification, differentiate the types of extractions including Android and iPhone extractions, identify deep fakes, and how to properly document the findings for a successful court presentation.
***This course is ideal for detectives and patrol officers who are tasked with cybercrime investigations and collection of digital evidence in their investigations.

INSTRUCTOR:

Detective Josef Herten is a veteran police officer with the Branford Police Department, Branford, CT and is a Task Force Officer with the United States Secret Service Digital Forensic team. Det. Herten has investigated numerous cybercrimes and has successfully processed complex crime scenes for digital evidence. He is an adjunct instructor at the University of New Haven and The Henry Lee Institute, teaching digital forensic classes focused on identification, preservation, and forensic analysis of digital evidence in criminal investigations.
Det. Herten has a master’s degree in criminal justice, a bachelor’s degree in social science and is a veteran of the United States’ Army Military Police Corp.
