Alternate Light Sources
Alternate Light Sources
May 27-30, 2008
$695.00
Forensic Light Sources (FLS) have taken their place among the tools of law enforcement. These valuable pieces of equipment, in many variations, will be the focus of this program.
Many law enforcement agencies currently own light sources but their personnel have not been properly trained to use FLS to their full potential. This course is designed to provide attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to maximize the usefulness of the light source and make the operator more efficient in the detection and documentation of evidence.
A lecture format will begin the program with the majority of time spent working hands on with different FLS and technologies of light sources to process mock crime scenes. Students will also utilize these light sources in a laboratory setting, analyzing specific types of evidence such as trace, fibers, hairs, GSR, documents and latent fingerprints.
As with all Institute workshops, the emphasis is on practical, hands on approaches, which will enable the participants to return to their duties fully ready to apply their skills.
Specific training will be tailored to the Ultra-Lite forensic light source.
Topics Include: • Principles of Light and FLS Operations • Scene and Evidence Applications • Documentation • Photography • Safety Issues
