May 23-27, 2011
$695
Bloodstain Patterns are the foundation for bloodstain interpretation through illustration of the scientific principles and practical application of bloodstain interpretation to actual casework.
This 40 hour, week long advanced course provides the opportunity to acquire first-hand knowledge of bloodstain pattern interpretation. The course is divided between lecture and laboratory. The lectures illustrate the fundamental principles of the discipline in a theoretical, as well as, practical manner. The lessons from the lectures are then reinforced by laboratory exercises designed to demonstrate how blood reacts under known conditions.
This intensive, hands on course is designed for law enforcement officers, crime scene investigators, forensic scientists, attorneys and medico-legal investigators.
Topics include:
- Characteristics of Liquid Blood
- Dripped and Splashed Patterns
- Projected Blood Patterns
- Bloodstains as a Chronometer
- Sequence of Bloodstains
- Recovery of Bloodstain Evidence
- Interpretation of Bloodstains on Clothing
- Courtroom Testimony
- Case Examples
The curriculum follows the 40 hour course set forth by the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts.
