IBIS, Bulletrax and Ballistics Evidence
June 11-13, 2012
$495.00
Ballistics evidence in shooting incidents is becoming more important with the increase in gun related crimes in the United States. The proper documentation and collection of ballistics evidence is crucial for laboratory examination and for introduction as evidence in the courtroom. This course will teach the newest methods in ballistics evidence. A new program which is expanding around the world is the use of the IBIS System (Integrated Ballistics Identification Systems). The IBIS system is a computer based tool that allows firearms examiners to link cartridges and bullets to a particular firearm. Police have been very successful in linking firearms to suspects through this technology. The Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science has an IBIS Brasstrax system in it's high technology classroom which will be used during the class.
This three day course will consist of lecture and field exercises.
The instructors in this course are members of the Henry C, Lee Institute of Forensic Science staff.
Registration may be done on line at henryleeinstitute.com. Any questions may be directed to the Institute at (203)932-7460.
