Advanced Shooting Reconstruction

Special topics in shooting investigations is a one week course designed for police officers and investigators who will have the responsibility to investigate shooting incidents. This course will cover the theory of shooting and crime scene investigation as well as evidence detection at shooting scenes. The student will learn about the effects of bullets fired from different weapons through different mediums. Trajectory, sequence, distance, gunshot wounds, manner of death in gun homicides, will be covered. The student will participate in experiments involving the effects of different calibers of bullets fired from different weapons in various mediums.

The course is limited to law enforcement at this time. POSTC credit will be sought for CT. police officers.

The Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science thanks all of the attendees and agencies at the 27th Annual Arnold Markle Symposium on the Investigation of Drug Related Deaths that was held October 22-23, 2018. The Symposium was extremely successful and offered another venue to discuss the problem that society faces with opioid related deaths. Our thanks to all of the speakers, and a special thanks to the parents who shared the stories of their loved ones. We are also grateful to the sponsors that helped us present the Symposium this year. Our Ties to the University of New Haven
